THE MOVEMENT
Within the hermetically sealed, 20 ATM-rated case beats the workhorse that powers the Freediver. The no-date variants make use of the Japanese Made Miyota 9039 movement, while those with a date complication at the 6 hour position utilize the 9015. A fully mechanical high-beat movement automatically wound by the movement of the wearer, the 9 series caliber oscillates at 28,800 beats per hour and will keep on ticking for decades. A 24 jeweled, hand-windable movement with hacking, the 9 series was introduced by the Japanese firm as an alternative to the Swiss Made ETA-2824. One could argue that the 9 series calibers are actually technologically superior to their Swiss counterparts thanks to their 42 hour power reserve and slimmer profile.
All of our movements are regulated in four positions for enhanced timekeeping tolerances. This process involves manually adjusting the length of the mechanical movement’s hairspring, fine-tuning it to keep even better time than what their manufacturer advertises. After regulation in four positions, the 9 series will typically run between -10 to +20 seconds a day.
