HARDENED STEEL

All of our watches are made from 316L surgical-grade stainless steel. This typically measures 200HV on the Vickers hardness scale; however, after our signature hardening treatment is applied, we are able to achieve a hardness rating of almost 1200HV. With this additional protection against the typical scratches and swirls that otherwise occur all too often during the rigors of everyday life, you can wear our watches without worry, using them like the robust tools they’re intended to be.

SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL

Cut from synthetic sapphire and measuring 9/10 on the Mohs hardness scale, the Commuter’s crystal is virtually impervious to scratches. Colloquially referred to as a “box style” crystal, its design is reminiscent of the plexiglass crystals that graced watches from a bygone era. A thick layer of clear anti-reflective coating on the underside eliminates glare for easy reading even in direct sunlight, while also enhancing clarity to such a degree that the crystal itself all but disappears.

THE DIAL

The Commuter makes use of a lacquered dial to achieve its glossy finish. The brass dial blanks are first sprayed using an enamel paint before going into a specialized high-temperature oven, after which they are hand polished until a lustrous sheen has been realized. The faceted hour indexes are meticulously filled with Swiss Made BGW9 Grade A Super-LumiNova and then hand-applied with maximum precision. Models with a date window at the 6 hour position feature a distinctive polished frame which complements the overall design of the dial.

THE HANDS

The multi-faceted diamond-cut hands slope up on either side and then taper off to a flat plane with brushed finishing (all done by hand!), creating a subtle visual effect that is pleasing even when not consciously registered. Filled with Swiss Made BGW9 Grade A Super-LumiNova, the strong luminescence makes for easy reading even in dim light.

THE CASE

Understated yet robust, the Commuter sports a scratch-resistant case hewn from surgical-grade 316L hardened stainless steel. Serving as a testament to our commitment to the smallest of details, you’ll enjoy observing the way light dances around the polished chamfers that highlight the transitions in finishes. The case’s design is further elevated by the ever so slightly convex nature of the mirror polished mid-case, with sides that bulge out just enough for the discerning wearer to appreciate how every detail has been meticulously considered.

THE BEZEL

The fixed bezel features two complementary brushing techniques. Sunburst brushing on the top gently teases the eye, while the mirror polished sides offer a distinctive finish that matches the overall refined aesthetic.

THE CROWN

The crown screws down snugly and smoothly into the side of the Commuter’s 100M water resistant case thanks to a decoupling mechanism that prevents it from winding the movement while being screwed down. A high-polished chamfer separates the coin-edged portion from the embossed TRASKA logo on the outermost surface.

THE MOVEMENT

Within the hermetically sealed, 10 ATM-rated case beats the workhorse that powers the Commuter. The no-date variants make use of the Japanese Made Miyota 9039 movement, while those with a date complication at the 6 hour position utilize the 9015. A fully mechanical high-beat movement automatically wound by the movement of the wearer, the 9 series caliber oscillates at 28,800 beats per hour and will keep on ticking for decades. A 24 jeweled, hand-windable movement with hacking, the 9 series was introduced by the Japanese firm as an alternative to the Swiss Made ETA-2824. One could argue that the 9 series calibers are actually technologically superior to their Swiss counterparts thanks to their 42 hour power reserve and slimmer profile.

All of our movements are regulated in four positions for enhanced timekeeping tolerances. This process involves manually adjusting the length of the mechanical movement’s hairspring, fine-tuning it to keep even better time than what their manufacturer advertises. After regulation in four positions, the 9 series will typically run between -10 to +20 seconds a day.

THE BRACELET

Forged from 316L stainless steel and tapering from 20mm to 16mm, the bracelet’s solid and fully articulating links echo designs from the Swiss bracelet purveyor Gay Frères. Made with a rigorous lifestyle in mind, the robust bracelet has undergone the same proprietary hardening process as the case. Precisely machined from stainless steel, the buckle exhibits polished chamfers on either side. The inside of the clasp is painstakingly hand polished with a perlage finish, because even the smallest of details matter. Quick-release spring bars make it easy to remove the bracelet for strap changes, while the buckle’s six micro-adjustments and the removable links' large flat head screws allow the bracelet to be sized to your exact liking with ease.

QUICK-ADJUST CLASP

Effortlessly adjust the size of your bracelet and get the perfect fit at all times thanks to our tool-less micro-adjustable buckle. With six different positions spaced 1.35mm apart, you can make your bracelet incrementally smaller or larger with the push of a button. No screwdrivers. No screws. No frustration. Oh, and it includes two additional half-links to ensure a comfortable fit for every wrist!

TRAVEL CASE

Our genuine leather travel case stays true to the utilitarian nature of the TRASKA brand. We value form; but not at the expense of function. Even when traveling light is a necessity, this leather pouch is small enough to go with you and ensure the safety of your timepiece. This isn’t packaging that will gather dust in the closet — it’s an elegant yet practical accessory you’ll want to travel with wherever you go.

Where Refinement Meets Endurance

"While I had my eye on the Commuter for some time, it took a setback to give me the nudge I needed to finally make the purchase. With a 7. 5-inch wrist, I opted for the 38mm Commuter in Adriatic Blue, and the size feels exceptionally well proportioned. The execution is impressive: a beautifully boxed sapphire crystal, finely finished hands, crisp applied indices, and a bracelet that feels thoughtfully engineered. Even the crown action is remarkably smooth and precise, reflecting the attention to detail behind the piece. After wearing it for a couple of months, I decided to put it to the test and wear it exclusively on my trip to Iceland. It was on my wrist as I hiked through storms in the remote Westfjords, warmed up in the hot springs of the Highlands, and spent multiple days navigating unpredictable rain, wind, and snow. I walked on glaciers, crossed lava fields, and visited some of the most striking waterfalls in the country. The same watch that felt perfectly suited to those conditions transitioned effortlessly a month later when I wore it to a wedding. It carries itself with equal confidence in both settings. Looking at the Commuter now, it marks a period defined by forward movement, exploration, and a renewed sense of resilience."

Quiet elegance in Arctic White

"Traska Commuter 34 mm is my first automatic watch. Couldn’t have chosen a better introduction to mechanical watches. I went with the Arctic White dial. Depending on the light, it can feel crisp and modern or soft and almost vintage-inspired. It gives the watch a quiet elegance. The 34 mm case is elegant, balanced, and incredibly comfortable on the wrist. It feels perfectly sized. The finishing is impressive. The dial is beautifully restrained, clean, timeless, and easy to appreciate every time I glance at it. It feels thoughtful, versatile, and quietly beautiful. For a first automatic, I honestly think I found something exceptional."

Arctic White Commuter 34

"I’ve been wearing my Traska Commuter 34mm a bunch since I received it and it’s quickly become one of my favorite everyday watches. It’s super sleek, low profile, and fits my wrist perfectly. The bracelet is really comfortable and feels more premium than the price suggests. It’s simple, clean, and easy to wear with anything. I’m thinking about picking up the Traska Summiteer 36mm next. Just hoping the extra size doesn’t feel too big on my wrist, but I like the idea of a little more presence."

3rd Traska…still a charm!

"So far have a 38mm midnight blue Summiteer, White Venturer and now this gorgeous 36mm silver Commuter. Really don’t know why you’d pay more for an absolutely stunning watch. Was worried about the readability and it is difficult at times but in the right light, super legible. Great vintage size and keeps excellent time. Good lume. The dial is just a classic. Gives vintage oyster perpetual vibes and literally goes with anything."

Something small that is really great. . .

". . . finally, a small watch with the perfect lug-to-lug measurement for my 6. 5-inch wrist. Beautiful craftsmanship in every detail. I love the stainless steel bracelet, I occasionally try the leather one, which I also really like. I'm very happy. . . thank you, Traska."

Great everyday watch

"I was looking at a watch with a more understated look that could fit in any occasion, which meant something thin and has a smaller case diameter. The 34mm Commuter fits that requirement nicely, and I wasn’t expecting the bracelet to be as nice as it was, both in terms of perfect fitment and comfort. Accuracy is about +6 seconds per day. The claim of hardened steel for scratch resistance is true as after owning this watch for over 2 weeks, there’s still not a single scratch. Adjusting the micro adjustment was a little difficult but I haven’t had to adjust it since, so a very minor point. Overall I’d recommend this if you want a more plain look, but still want something of high quality as it definitely feels the price."

"Amazing finishing, feel of the bracelet, and a return to more sensible and vintage sizing. Excellent."

My opinion Traska Commuter 36,5mm

"I am satisfied with the quality of the watch. However, I have a few small remarks and things that should be refined more in the watch bracelet itself. The moment when it is put on the wrist can be unpleasant and it is probably related to the quality of the phasing of the cells from the inside. A feeling of slight sharpness and roughness accompany putting the watch on by hand. Then, when it is already on my hand, I do not feel any discomfort. The watch fits great on my 17. 3 cm wrist. In addition, one could think about optimizing the fastener itself. Microregulation is ok, but. The tip extending the bracelet is not a full link, but a kind of "plate". This issue could be improved. Shortening the bracelet by removing it with unscrewable screws is very good. The screws are of very good quality. After shortening the bracelet by 3. 5 links, I adjusted it perfectly to the wrist, securing the screws according to the guide I have no comments about the case, dial. They are very good. The watch movement rushes about 7-8s a day, which I think is a very good result. 👍🏼"
