HARDENED STEEL

All of our watches are made from 316L surgical-grade stainless steel. This typically measures 200HV on the Vickers hardness scale; however, after our signature hardening treatment is applied, we are able to achieve a hardness rating of almost 1200HV. With this additional protection against the typical scratches and swirls that otherwise occur all too often during the rigors of everyday life, you can wear our watches without worry, using them like the robust tools they’re intended to be.

SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL

Cut from synthetic sapphire and measuring 9/10 on the Mohs hardness scale, the Venturer’s crystal is virtually impervious to scratches. Colloquially referred to as a “box style” crystal, its design is reminiscent of the plexiglass crystals that graced watches from a bygone era. This particular sapphire crystal also boasts a thick layer of clear anti-reflective coating on the underside — eliminating glare for easy reading in direct sunlight while also enhancing clarity to such a degree that the crystal itself all but disappears. A 100% transparent anti-fingerprint coating has been applied to the exterior of the crystal to help reduce the need to wipe off the smudges that, otherwise, all too often find themselves on there during the course of daily life.

THE DIAL

The Venturer makes use of a lacquered dial to achieve its glossy finish. The brass dial blanks are made spotless through a sonic cleaning process and then carefully coated in an enamel paint and placed into a specialized oven. As the temperature gradually rises over several hours, the paint sets. The dials are then hand-polished to perfection, resulting in a lustrous finish that catches the eye from afar. The multi-faceted hour indexes are meticulously filled with Swiss Made Grade A BGW9 Super-LumiNova, which ‘pours’ out of the innermost edge with a waterfall design, and then hand-applied with maximum precision. Placed strategically at the 6-hour position, the color-matched date wheel is revealed by a diamond-cut circular aperture with polished chamfered sides.

INTERNAL ROTATING BEZEL

Take in an additional time zone at a glance with the Venturer’s distinctive internal rotating bezel. Use the screw-down crown at the 10 o’clock position to adjust the luminescent Arabic numerals to correspond with the time difference you want to account for.

THE HANDS

The multi-faceted diamond-cut hands slope up on either side and then taper off to a flat plane with brushed finishing, creating a subtle visual effect that is pleasing even when not consciously registered. Filled with Grade A Swiss Made BGW9 Super-LumiNova, the strong luminescence makes for easy reading even in dim light.

THE CASE

Cut from 316L stainless steel and featuring the proprietary hardening treatment for which TRASKA has become known, the all-new Venturer GMT Ref. 4217 challenges our signature minimalism while upholding the utilitarian spirit of its predecessor. Instead of a chamfer, the upper portion of the midcase features polished concave cutouts; a subtle flourish to be sure, but one that shines upon repeated inspection. Echoed on the lower portion of the bezel, the cutouts form a perfect semicircle, which, like the best architecture, delights and satisfies even when not consciously noticed. Designed to be worn without fear, the Venturer is water resistant to 150 meters.

THE BEZEL

The exterior bezel that surrounds the sapphire crystal is adorned with a satinated brushed finish that bursts out from the topmost center. The eye tracks this feature and follows it to a concave bevel in the shape of a quarter circle. Here, the viewer encounters the midcase, where the same design is mirrored back. The overall effect is a perfect semi-circular cutout on the case sides, mitigating the case’s thickness and delighting the eye with each fascinated glance.

10 O'CLOCK CROWN

The screw-down crown at the 10-hour position operates the internal rotating bezel used to display an additional time zone of your choosing. While the overall aesthetic is similar to the time-setting crown, an embossed globe motif replaces the logo on the outermost surface in a nod to its intended function.

3 O'CLOCK CROWN

The screw-down crown used for setting the time and date at the 3-hour position exhibits a high-polished chamfer separating the coin-edged portion from the embossed TRASKA logo on the outermost surface.

THE MOVEMENT

Powered by the fresh-to-market Miyota 9075 movement, the Venturer features a true traveler’s GMT complication. An additional hour hand sweeps smoothly around the dial over the course of 24 hours, keeping track of the time at home while the independently adjustable local hour hand can be easily set to the timezone of your newest destination. Automatically wound by the motion of the wearer, the Japanese-made caliber oscillates at 28,800 beats per hour and features a 42-hour power reserve. A 24 jeweled, hand-windable movement with hacking, date and GMT complications, the 9075 will continue to tick for generations with proper care and periodic servicing.

All of our movements are regulated in four positions for enhanced timekeeping tolerances. This process involves manually adjusting the length of the mechanical movement’s hairspring, fine-tuning it to keep even better time than what their manufacturer advertises. After regulation in four positions, the 9 series will typically run between -10 to +20 seconds a day.

THE BRACELET

The bracelet’s solid and fully articulating links are forged from 316L stainless steel and taper from 21mm to 16mm. Made with a rigorous lifestyle in mind, the robust bracelet has undergone the same proprietary hardening process as the case. Precisely machined from stainless steel, both the buckle and individual links exhibit polished chamfers on their sides. The inside of the clasp is painstakingly hand polished with a perlage finish, because even the smallest of details matter. Quick-release spring bars make it easy to remove the bracelet for strap changes, while the buckle’s six micro-adjustments and the removable links' flat head screws allow the bracelet to be sized to your exact liking with ease.

With six different positions spaced 1.35mm apart, you can make your bracelet incrementally smaller or larger with the push of a button. No screwdrivers. No screws. No frustration.

TRAVEL CASE

The newest version of the TRASKA travel case is constructed from genuine leather and stays true to the utilitarian nature of the brand. We value form, but not at the expense of function. Great value, hands need more lume

"For the money, the Venturer is the most watch you can get for the money. The hardness coating does a great job keeping the watch, but especially the clasp looking new. The only things that aren't perfect is the lume. The hands don't glow as strong as the indices so it's hard to tell the time even when it's completely dark and your eyes are adjusted. I love that the case back isn't too bulky so it makes it sit a perfectly on the wrist."

Might be the perfect watch

"I’ve been wearing this watch nonstop since it arrived. It’s delivered everything that I hoped for - great fit, thin profile, very readable with some vintage vibes and overall top notch quality. The bracelet is a standout given its adjustability and adjusting the fit is a breeze with the screw links. Overall this watch punches well above its weight. I have Omegas, Longines, and Grand Seiko watches and this holds its own. The only very minor nitpick is that the lume is a bit weak. Everything else is 10/10."

"I waited for the Venturer GMT Carbon Black to become available for months and now that it’s with me I can say that it was definitely worth the wait! It’s a stunning watch and I’m really impressed about the quality of it. Well above the expectations and incredibly well done, considering the price. The case is gorgeous, the dial is hypnotic, the bracelet fits like a glove with many adjustment options (two half-links included in addition to the micro-adjust device within the clasp).
